Rachel Maund
Rachel was International Sales and Marketing Director at Gower and Ashgate Publishing before co-founding Marketability in 1999. Prior to that she held senior marketing positions at Mosby Europe (now part of Elsevier), and Routledge (now Taylor and Francis). She is workshop leader on Marketability’s Training Workshops, devises and runs tailored training days for a wide range of publishers, co-ordinates the Marketability team of consultants, and masterminds our marketing campaigns. Today, she is in demand as a speaker on marketing across publishing in the UK and beyond. To unwind she tries to balance addictions to aerobics, chocolate, margaritas (shaken not frozen), and travel.

Marketability Consultants
Between us we have experienced most of the highs and lows that publishing has to offer.
Whether it’s a catalogue that has missed its deadline or a fiction campaign that’s lost the plot, give us a try.
We can give you strategic advice, practical help and moral support. We are unfazed by the complexities of e-marketing or the frustrations of gluesticks!

We are:

Ceri Williams
Ceri has broad experience of publishing, having worked as a freelance marketing consultant for a number of major STM and other publishers. Her skills range from copywriting and direct mail to campaign management. She draws on them all at Marketability, whilst setting the rest of us a high standard in organisational efficiency! She is sometimes seen canoeing on the cleaner reaches of the Thames.
Jackie Freshfield
Jackie worked in trade publishing for over 10 years before becoming a freelance marketing consultant in 1998. Recent projects include editing the book of Guinness World Records and managing a monthly selling-in magazine for the Orion Publishing Group. As well as managing marketing and print projects, she is an experienced designer and copywriter. Jackie reduces her stress levels by singing in the Albert Hall with the Royal Choral Society and by leaving the country at frequent intervals, carrying a camera.
Sarah Nichols
Sarah Nichols held a senior marketing position at Cambridge University Press until becoming an independent consultant in 2001. She helped develop, and tutored on, our E-marketing workshop from the outset and works with us on a range of other projects. In her spare time, she’s studying for a Masters in Organizational Behaviour and listens to The Archers.

Several other experienced publishing consultants work with us on an occasional basis when the right project comes up, so the chances are that whatever you need, we'll have someone expertly placed to do it for you.
